The 2009 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) results showed that students in grades four and eight attained significant increases in their mathematics scores since the 2007 NAEP results. NH students also performed well compared to the rest of the country. The NH fourth graders scored higher than 49 other jurisdictions while scoring similarly to 2. The eighth graders scored higher than 44 jurisdictions, similarly to 6, and scored below only Massachusetts. 163,000 students from 52 jurisdictions were sampled.
