    National Honor SocietyNHS

    • The National Honor Society is open to students in grades 10-12 through a competitive application process.

    • Students that meet the minimum academic requirement will receive an invitation to apply at the beginning of each semester (October & March), and are given approximately 2 weeks to complete and submit their application.

    • Hard copies of the application invitations will be mailed home, and an email notifying students and parents of this will be sent. Applications must be submitted via HARD COPY to the NHS advisor.

    • APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED PAST THE DEADLINE.
    • Student applications will be evaluated by a 5-member faculty committee. The committee looks for strong evidence of applicants exhibiting these Four Pillars identified by the National Honor Society organization: Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service.

    • If accepted, applicants are expected to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.7, uphold the behavior and leadership standards, attend monthly meetings, and participate in group service events each year.

What does this mean for students?

Students are encouraged to strengthen their application by successfully completing the following prior to submitting an application:

    • Maintain a 3.7 or higher GPA (academic requirement)

    • Take honors and/or AP level courses for academic rigor when available & be an active classroom participant--teacher recommendations are a required portion of the application.

    • Participate in school activities such as clubs or sports, or out of school activities such as scouting, sports, or youth groups.

      • Look for and engage in leadership opportunities within these activities

    • Complete a variety of community service activities

Successful NHS applicants are not just good students, but individuals who exemplify strong leadership, character, and have a positive impact on our community.
