Robotics has begun at WLC!
The High School robotics team will build and program a working robot to compete in FIRST Robotics events! FIRST is a world-wide program that promotes hands-on opportunities in fields like engineering, programming, and more! All within the spirit of competition, collaboration, and gameplay! Interested students should contact the Main Office.
Middle School Robotics has begun! We will work with building and programming a Lego Mindstorms robot for a competition also through FIRST. FIRST Lego League teams will work together to create a robot that has to do a series of challenges within a time limit during a competition. They also brainstorm, research, and design a project to solve a common problem based around that year's theme. Interested students should contact the Main Office.

A team of WLC teachers has joined forces with the Museum of Science in Boston and teachers throughout New England to explore ways to incorporate STEAM into the curriculum. But what exactly does STEAM mean?
STEAM is about incorporating into the curriculum across all disciplines the concepts and critical thinking skills inherent in STEAM subjects to meet real-world challenges. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Design, and Math. STEAM in education is an interdisciplinary approach to learning where rigorous academic expectations are coupled with real-world problem-based and performance-based tasks. Students learn by responding to the real-world situations presented in their courses in creative and meaningful ways that develop each student’s ability to problem-solve and to think creatively. STEAM in education is about influencing the way students think, not about the content students need to know.
